Weather Alert On Your Wedding Day

Home » Wedding Thoughts »

You’ve just finished planning the wedding, and you’re just waiting for everything to fall right into place. If you think the worst is over and that you’ll be enjoying the most magnificent day of your life, when you tie the knot on your wedding day … you might want to think again. According to Farmer’s Almanac, the recent entries on their Worst Wedding Weather Contest came from the most unlikely places. Couples living in Texas, Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Indiana have experienced the wettest, windiest, snowiest and sometimes hail-ridden wedding days.

Texas can now be called the worst state to get married. According to the number of submissions from all over the country, the Lone Star State has seen quite a number of disastrous matrimonial days for their population. Of course, this is not to say that you should marry in any of the states mentioned above, nor should you move across the country just so you’ll have a sunny wedding day; most of these are freak snowstorms in the middle of May, or a surprise heavy shower while the sky is blue and clear. Of course, if you experience hurricanes all year round or are expecting to see the first snow fall within a couple of days before your matrimonial date, you may want to have your wedding another place or time – just to be sure.

Those living in Arizona, South Carolina, Utah, North Dakota and Oregon have quite blissful weddings, due to the few number of entries that came in from the above mentioned regions. But there are a few couples who have gone through nightmarish weddings, too; though not as dreadful as those from Florida and Texas.

This is not to scare couples living in these weather cursed states, but just a word of caution before you start planning your wedding during the hurricane season. The weather station will be glad to help you out, if you would just take the time to call them and ask for an advisory.

When Farmer’s Almanac launched their contest, they were surprised that more than 500 video entries were submitted. Such a huge number of couples who have braved and survived what nature has wrath on their wedding day. The contest ends today, March 17, 2008; and the winners of the contest will be announced at the end of the month, March 31, 2008.

As a sort of consolation for having Mother Nature wreck havoc on their nuptials, the winner of the contest will be given a chance to redo the past. They will be given a chance to renew their wedding vows aboard the Royal Caribbean International, courtesy of Farmer’s Almanac. If that’s not enough, the couples will also be given a second honeymoon with $1,000 worth of credit for their whole cruise. Of course, this will not erase the heartbreak these couples experienced, but it will give them a chance to tie the know all over again.
