When You Don`t Want A Formal Gown

You’re planning your big day. You’ve decided that you both want a non-traditional wedding. Heck, you’re even getting married at the lake. So, a long, white, formal gown just isn’t going to work for you. Now what? Well, there are several places to find other wedding attire that doesn’t conform to the traditional, formal gowns and here are some ideas to help you decide what to wear on your big day:
1. You’re getting married at the lake or beach – there are many different outfits that you can find for a water-front wedding such as knee-length white sun dresses or dressy white tops and white shorts. Depending on your personal style, you can always find some beautiful white outfits to wear that won’t get in your way while walking by the water and won’t drag you down during the ceremony. A sun dress or knee-length dress is perfect for water-front weddings, especially if you plan to get married barefoot. If you aren’t comfortable in a dress, or just don’t want to wear one, pick out some white shorts or capris and a dressy, white top.
2. You’re getting married in Vegas (or somewhere similar) – while these places are great for spontaneous weddings, you might not just want to wear your jeans and ball cap to get married in. If you only have a short time to get ready for your surprise wedding, try to find something that makes you feel as if you are a little dressed up and beautiful. A nice dress or outfit can make all the difference in how you feel when you say “I do”, even if you are at a drive-thru chapel!
3. You’re getting married in the snow – while you might think that this is insane, think about it: the sun shining on fresh snow, snowflakes swirling around you and your groom, the beautiful, white landscape around you. It can be truly magical. But, wearing shorts and a t-shirt aren’t quite the way to go for this wedding and neither is a dress in most cases. So, when you are shopping for your snowy wedding attire, find a beautiful, soft, white sweater and a pair of white pants to make you stand out as the bride.
No matter what your style or the theme of your wedding, you can find a great outfit or dress to wear for your non-traditional wedding ceremony. Even if you are getting married sky diving or scuba diving, you can still find something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue to make your wedding feel more like a wedding than an outing. Sometimes a non-traditional wedding will make your wedding day even more special than if you wore the formal dress and stood in front of a thousand people and said “I do”.
