Bridesmaid dresses are going to sleek, tea length styles with bold colors this year. With so many to choose from, you can find just the right dress from many of the different designers, such as Alfred Angelo, Lazaro, Mori Lee, and Monique L’Huillier. Even Ann Taylor Celebrations and J. Crew have a lot of trendy dresses to offer in many styles and colors. These dresses are made to be worn again, so you aren’t stuck spending a lot of money on something that will only collect dust in your closet. Most of the dresses being worn now are usually strapless, tea length, and are made of a more flowing material such as crinkle silk, chiffon, or French satin.
When choosing bridesmaid dresses, it is not necessary to match the bride; the key is complimenting the bride. The bridesmaid dresses should compliment the bridal gown in style, color, and theme of the wedding. The bride’s gown is surely going to be beautiful, but the dresses should help to enhance the gown, without overshadowing it. There is no longer a need for all bridesmaids to dress like clones of the bride in a different color, the idea now is for the bridesmaid to look beautiful and stand beside the bride in compliment.
With anything, there is always tradition, such as the tradition that dictates that the bridesmaids should all wear the same dress and style. This would be ideal if we were all the same shape and size, but since this is not the case, a different style for each may be best. When shopping, either choose the same style, but different color, or same color, but different style. We all know that all woman have different shapes, sizes, and facets they want to accentuate, as well as some they don’t. This leaves much room for the bridesmaids to choose a dress the suits them as an individual. If the bridesmaids are allowed to help choose the dress that best compliments them, they will then be able to wear this dress again to another formal occasion.
This thought of allowing the bridesmaids to pick out dresses that compliment their figures goes right along with the thought that they do not all have to be the same color either. If you can find a style that compliments all the bridesmaids, then buy them in different colors that look good on each different woman while still matching your wedding colors.
Just remember that there are no rules that are completely set in stone when it comes to bridesmaid dresses. Keep and open mind and try to have your bridesmaids try on several different styles and colors to see which ones will work best with them and with your wedding. This will help you to have a great wedding, and great looking bridesmaids!
