Wedding Ceremonies In the Sun, Surf, And Sand

Home » Wedding Location »

Destination weddings, although fancy, are very popular nowadays, as the couple can immediately retreat to an R&R right after the reception, and the attendants can also have leisure time as well. Couples who want to add a romantic touch to their union (as if the wedding itself wasn’t romantic enough), choose to hold the ceremony on the beach. What better way to express your eternal commitment and love than in front of the foaming sea and a setting sun? It imprints a picture-perfect and priceless memory of the couple on all those in attendance. If you are considering on a beach-themed wedding, these following tips may help you in your purpose.

Probably one of the first things which come to mind when considering on a beach-themed wedding is the attire. This is especially difficult for the bride, since she has to stand out among the crowd and steal the show, so to speak, without being too dressy as to be out of place. If the ceremony is traditional and the dress code follows suit, then the bridal gown may be more of the traditional type as well. But if the theme is more informal than those held in church, the bridal gown should also reflect the theme. You can use a slim dress with a halter or strapless top in slightly pale pastel colors. Instead of a veil, you can wear your hair long or pulled back, and accent it with a flower-ornamented hair band or bead-studded barrettes. Since simplicity is the theme here, you won’t go wrong in going barefoot, or donning an elegant pair of flip-flops for footwear. The groom may wear slacks or khakis, depending on how informal the theme is. A top polo shirt with tropical patterns would be a nice complement to the bride’s simple, yet elegant, wedding outfit.

The next thing to consider is the location. This could make or break the entire event. In this respect, research makes all the difference. If you live close to the coast, this solves the problem to some extent. Otherwise you’ll have to pick up an almanac, or browse online for ideal beach spots which may serve as your wedding venue. Most beaches also may have certain set rules and restrictions concerning event functions within the premises, and you should verify to make sure the wedding goes smoothly.

Since you prefer the wedding ceremonies to be as close to your ideals as it should be, the time of day and the weather are of urgent importance. Remember that Mother Nature can get finicky at times, and if you don’t plan well ahead of the event, you can literally have rain pouring down on your ceremony. Get constant updates on the weather forecasts within the venue area. Depending on the scheduled time of day on which the wedding will be held, you’ll have to consider the tides as well. Whether you prefer an early morning ceremony or a wedding by sunset, position the venue in such a way that you don’t end up gathering your train around in search of higher ground.
