Unique Shopping Ideas For Decorations

Tired of browsing the aisles of your local craft store for wedding decorations? Still can’t find what you want? Maybe you are looking in the wrong place! Shopping for wedding decorations can be a major job, but you don’t have to spend a ton of money all in the same place.
Candles, tablecloths, ribbon, fake flowers and other decorations are certainly available at most craft stores, but you can find them in many other places as well. Whether you have specific decorating ideas in mind or are just looking for inspiration, here is a list of great places to go when shopping for unique wedding decorations;
1) Party supply stores: Think these places just sell paper plates for kids’ birthdays? Think again! Many party supply stores also have great wedding decorations of all kinds. This is also a great place to look for decorations if you are having a themed wedding, as they often carry costumes and props for luaus, Halloween, Christmas, western parties and more.
2) Ebay: While Ebay is a great resource for virtually anything, it can also be a bride and groom’s best friend when looking for decorations. Need a unique wedding cake topper, hanging candle holders or hundreds of little white roses? Ebay probably has it. And the best part? When you are done, you can even resell some of the things that you don’t want to keep (who wants to keep hundreds of little fake gold rings anyway?)
3) Thrift Stores and yard sales: While you may not want to buy your wedding dress from a thrift store, this may be a great place to find cool old candle holders, linens and other things you may never have thought of for a deal. Just carefully inspect anything that you buy and make sure it’s in good condition.
4) The grocery store: Rice, bubbles, place mats and more are at the grocery store and is a great place to look for decoration details. You may find that craft stores charge double for stuff like tape and safety pins just because it’s convenient when you can easily buy them at the grocery store.
5) Your friends: If you have a friend that is getting married close to the same time that you are, see if you can buy some of her used, but still in good condition, decorations from them. Better yet, see if they want to split the cost of something expensive and new (like a trellis or arch) and use it at both weddings.
Whatever you do, don’t get discouraged if your local craft store is leaving you uninspired and tired of the same old decorations everyone else has. Browse the Internet and look for unique online only stores that have great home décor for interesting wedding decoration ideas.
Furthermore, don’t dismiss dollar stores, bulk warehouses, catalogs and mall boutiques for great decorating ideas and deals. You may find that some of the best deals are available in places you would never suspect, so leave no store unturned for wedding decorations.
