This is probably one of the hardest decision for the groom to make. Who should you have as your best man? The best, best man. A man that has seen you through good times and bad. A man that can make you laugh when needed, give you a listening ear when necessary and handle tons of responsibility. Make sure it’s a mature person that you can trust because he needs to handle a lot before your wedding, at the wedding and after the wedding. Everything needs to run smoothly and on time. Your best man will serve as a confidant as he will be a personal aide to you throughout the activities for this special time in your life.
Grooms have chosen their father, brother, or another family member or their best friend to be their best man in their wedding. This is completely up to you who you choose. In fact, it’s a great thing to talk over with your fiancé. She too will soon have to make a similar choice in choosing her maid of honor. This is just as tough a decision for a woman to make. Don’t feel obligated to ask someone just ask someone that you is close to your heart. In the future, you want to look at wedding pictures and still have that best man as your friend and in your life.
Someone that is active in your life now and will be in the future is the perfect choice. Parents may try to convince you or influence your decision. Friends may even try to bribe you into having them as your best man. It’s not a competition. This is the person that you need to be able to rely on now and later. If you have any doubt in your mind, don’t ask that person. You just know when it’s the right best man. One of the responsibilities of a best man is to sign your marriage license. This has a special meaning as well and should be entrusted to someone that is worthy in your eyes. He also needs to get the groom to the ceremony and activities on time. Again, so your choice of best man should be a reliable and well rounded individual. Who would you want at your side during the most important moment in your life? Definitely someone special. So take the time to consider this important part of your wedding party.
